May 2026 Tour Day 5

An absolutely brilliant day's riding with two ferries in between. We headed west from Kirishima over mountains and down to the coast on the west side of Kagoshima prefecture. We took the Kuronoseto Ohashi (Kuronoseto big bridge) to the lovely island of Nagashima. A beautiful run up the coast to our first ferry, which took us to the island of Amakusa. Another lovely coastal ride up this gorgeous island to the second ferry. The ferry journeys were only about 30 minutes each but it was fun getting on and the views from the ships were stunning. The second ferry took us to the Shimabara Peninsula. From there it was a 90 minute run into the city of Nagasaki.
