May 2026 Tour Day 8

After breakfast at the guesthouse we pootled around Yufuin and visited Lake Kinrin, about a mile away. That was followed by a visit to the Retro Motors Museum, coffee in a coffee shop and then a visit to the Yamashita Collection, just on the edge of town. Yufuin really is a charming village and the museums and cafes are just extra icing on an already deliciously-iced cake.

The Yamashita Collection is next level Old Mr Yamashita has been collecting for over forty years. Mostly motorcycles but also movie memorabilia, stained glass windows, a fighter jet and a locomotive amongst loads of other things. We were treated to a brew and it was the perfect end to the last morning of the tour.

After that, we headed back to our starting point in Kitakyushu - about 4 hours with a stop in some paddy fields for lunch.

A truly wonderful trip.
